In Switzerland....By Boat...

Today we traveled by Boat across the Thuner See (See means lake in German) which is about an hour from where my family lives in the mountains...we didn't really have a destination in mind but ended up spending the day in Spietz where you can visit this stunning castle and the views from the lake are out of this world.

The Swiss are amazing with their flowers....here you can see the Swiss flag in floral colour.

This is the castle in the town of Oberhofen on the Thun See.

Here is the castle of Spietz...the colour of the water is so outstanding.

The Harrison Gallery - Celebrating 10 Years together....

Here I am with the wonderful Jo Ellen Harrison, the owner of the Harrison Gallery. Her current show is called "Celebrating 10 Years" 2001-2011. We started working ten years ago together and it was fun to be able to see one of my paintings hanging in her current collection (above photo with the barn landscape). She just sold "The Walk Through" pictured below. If you should be anywhere near Williamstown, MA this summer, this is such a great gallery to visit and Jo represents a beautiful collection of artists. (Currently there are ten available landscapes of mine there!). Here is her link:

Afternoon sketch in the daily journal....

I am on the road for the next two months with my children --a tradition I have started as of a few years back----ten months in the studio to prepare for shows and two months on the road - to replenish, sketch and travel with Finn and Remy, two duffel bags and paints...five States and abroad --New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, ... Switzerland, Germany and England.  I am traveling with my sketchbook, daily journal, watercolours, coloured pencils, acrylics, pens, graphite....and camera. It's good to work small scale again to sketch watercolours...and of course the studio in San Francisco is still open by appointment.

Sketching....Watercolours and Coloured Pencils....

I sat outside with my kids this afternoon in Stockbridge, MA to sketch by the pond...it's been a long time since I have had a watercolour brush in hand with paper as I am so used to the larger canvas...and what a good feeling it was...as I won't be by the studio these next couple months, my little satchel of paints and paper will be close by my side...

Hanging up the painted apron for summer inspiration en route...

I will post throughout the summer months with little sketches and watercolours and sources of inspiration...

Coastal Route 30 X 40"

Coastal Route

Available in the Studio
This piece feels like the good one to wrap up the Spring with and head into the summer months...I am heading to the Coast - East Coast - for the summer months with our two children to fulfill the bicoastal part of me. I will be back in the studio in early September and will be posting small works along my travels to the East Coast and over the pond in Europe. But for now, I hang up the painted apron and pull out the pencil, ink and watercolours.....

Parallel to the Sea

This piece has a great story. It was painted ten years ago and for some reason I just didn't want to make it available for sale. It hung in my studio as a constant inspiration for me to get closer to abstraction in my landscapes which I love...it moved back and forth from the studio to our home. I recently put it up on the site and a wonderful client of mine from New England called and asked about it. I shared the story with him and as it was someone I felt I had such a nice connection with, it was easier to let go. Somehow I have a feeling while driving up the East Coast, I will have the chance to see it again.

The two pieces above are now in the home of a family in San Francisco. They have such a wonderful interest and understanding of my work and treasure all the details which I work so hard to put into each piece. They own a painting of mine with trees in the subject matter and wanted to add to their collection. I am so honored that they collect my work and take such interest in the little artistic details about each painting!
