I spent the day with great friends of mine from Block Island who have moved their family to Bangkok for three years. It was so wonderful to see the four of them in this setting and how they are assimilating to life here.
We took a wonderful boat ride through the small canals and along the main river where we visited Wat Arun, one of the bigger temples with amazing decorative ceramic inlay. Climbing it was an adventure to say the least (never look back or down) and worth it for the view, but the descent made my knees weak. The stairs were very steep and incredibly narrow...easier to ascend than the oppposite!
