A day by the sea with my daughter...

My daughter Remy asked me the other day if she could spent a full studio day with me. She wanted our day to be "exactly" as I do it during my work week.  I told her maybe we could "improvise" a bit, but I was so touched that she wanted to see how my days unroll while she is in school.
She woke up super early on Saturday morning (6:30am) and asked me to check the tides...we were on the beginning end of Low Tide down by the San Francisco Bridge and so we rapidly packed our beach bags, snacks, games, towels and sweet Mango, our rescue pup. Low Tide is key because it is optimal sea glass collecting time...needless to say, we came across a lot of beautiful glass and even a blue piece!

At the Warming Hut where we had breakfast, I found my friend Rae Dunn's awesome book called Wilma's World which is a wonderful read of photos and little pearls of wisdom on life -from her dog, Wilma's perspective...it was a perfect read for us with a view of the Bridge...

Sea lions were abundant under the docks waiting for snacks to be dropped down from the fishermen casting their crab nets...

Remy pulled out my watercolors and worked hard on a few pieces while I painted alongside her. It was quiet and peaceful and she loved being a part of my world and seeing me in action.
After the sun, salt, long beach walk and painting, a rest was in order.
I painted a watercolor sketch of my apron above and Remy made a pencil drawing of a family..
My daughter and I are one in the same...we live for our time on the ocean, and to be creative...she even loves seagulls as much as I do. She thinks I was a seagull in my past life. I tend to agree.
