Bali Eco Stay. Slice of heaven in the rice fields.
The view from our breakfast table at Bali Eco Stay looking down at our bungalow.
Magical Place.
Favorite walk...
Coconut Tree Swing.
Sifting and grinding our picked red rice from the fields...
The drying barn...
You can see the rice separating...
...a little needed help...
Red and white grains...
Grinding the rice to separate the husk from the grain in a stone mortar...
Red rice separated...we ate this rice for lunch...unbelievable.
Harvesting Rice...
Today we spent the day learning about harvesting rice...you can see Scott and the kids with the local "grandfather" or the community, showing them how you choose the stalks and cut them with a special sharp blade.
The rice is put into bundles such as this...
...and then pounded together to form a tight shape and tied with a blade of grass.
The bundles are put together and layered on these bamboo shelves.
...and then moved up into this rice storage barn to dry for days.
