Back in the cottage by the sea...

It's June, the kids had about a few hours of downtime after school let out for the summer before we were on a flight back East. It goes this way every summer...I just can't wait to get back to...

Sunrises. Flip flops. Balmy nights. The sounds of squeaky screen doors. Adirondacks. Grey shingles. Fresh mown grass. Farm stands. Peaches. Dunes. Hot sand. Clamming. Atlantic. Water colors. Sandy sketchbooks and summer reads. Beach fires. Smores. Sunsets....Unscheduled time to have again. The salty life. Back on Cape Cod for the summer.

Colorful bouquet.

I love cozy mornings.

I give myself an hour every morning to sit quietly before the kids get up. It truly is so peaceful to light a couple candles and make my coffee knowing they are quietly sleeping and I have time to collect my thoughts for my day ahead.

Heading East...

Cheers to my last beach walk on the San Francisco Bay for the next few months.
In the next days I am organizing my home to be lived in by a sweet family from New York, packing up two bags, closing up my studio and heading to the East Coast for the summer with my children... Sweet Atlantic Ocean, here we come.

Traveling watercolors..

I am enjoying my third beautiful traveling watercolor set which will come on the road with me this summer. I figured I would take a few snapshots before it's used well.

Good Morning Saturday.

I am taking my morning to think about the last few days here before I pack up our couple bags and head East to Cape Cod for the summer.  It's quiet, the kids and animals are asleep and I have just a few moments to myself. These moments are rare, but very treasured.

Be.

Living authentically has been my mantra for the last three years after an incredible trip we took to Bali which shifted a lot inside me. The culture there is all geared toward gratitude and beauty in a giving sense. The kindness of the people and stunning daily rituals to give thanks for living and existing in this beautiful world, were so moving to see - and have never left my heart.
Rae Dunn, the amazing ceramicist here in Berkeley, left this little gem she made-  to be discovered in my studio after a fun visit we shared. I'm not sure she realized how well it suited me but I treasure it - as it fits so perfectly as to how I am leading my life these days...it comes everywhere with me, like a lucky friend.

Little landscapes on paper...

I am really enjoying painting these little seascapes on paper. They are all about 3 x 4" and I plan on painting a big collection of them on my travels this summer. They will all be with me in my sketchbook and are available to see on my website. Very easy to post in the mail too as I don't plan on framing them while on the road. Keep posted as the summer months progress! Such a fun break from the big canvases I work on in the studio!

Provincetown Art Association and Museum.

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum is such at treat to visit on Cape Cod. After walking the streets lined with beautiful colorful homes you slip into this quiet modern space filled with wonderful exhibitions. Every year they have a members exhibit called "12 x 12" and each member donates a painting of that size to an auction which continues from May into July to raise money for the museum. I donated at a little 12 x 12" called "Dunewalk" which for me represented the landscape of the area. (middle row all the way to the right) If you are out there well worth a visit to see the museum and bid on some art!
