Sea Glass.

In her home, Christina (Strand Jewelry below) and her family have collected sea glass over the years since they moved back to Florida from California. There is a big vase in their living room that is about a foot deep in stunning sea glass...I had to take the photo from above. Loved it.

Strand Jewelry.

I spent the afternoon with an old friend, Christina Masseau, who I met years ago while she was living in California...she has since move back to her home town here in Vero Beach, Florida, and created such a beautiful collection of jewelry...each piece, original and handmade (the beads coming home with her from her travels abroad).  The colours of the beads mesmerized me and I took a couple snapshots of them while in her amazing creative home studio.
This is what I would love to do in my next life...maybe in this one too...one day when I live in the Islands surrounded by tourquoise waters.

Morning Walk. True inspiration.

Seaside watercolours...

5:30-5:40PM.

Nature quietly gives us the biggest treasures. To be grateful. To be present. To take notice.
Whether it's a worn shell tumbled by years in the ocean, the warm sand underfoot on a cold day, the foam of a wave, gentle breeze, salt air, ...all the way to the stunning fleeting colours of Her way of saying goodnight.

Beautiful well worn treasures.

I love the shells that are no longer in tact...the pieces, the well worn ones...sanded down over months and years of being adrift. I find them so beautiful to look at and to feel in my hands.

This painting was purchased from a great woman I know --for her sweet husband as a surprise on Christmas morning for him. I am so honored, touched and tickled pink that she is doing this...

2013 Calendar

I was asked by the Hanwha Advertising Group in Asia to participate in their 2013 calendar this upcoming year. It was an honor to be asked ...March ended up being my month!

Repose 30 X 40"

When I painted this piece I kept thinking about the calm I feel by the sea.
A quiet sense of peace.

Just Steps Away 48 X 50"

It's usually this time of year when I start missing the summer months...the freedom that the kids and I have to just "be" without being over scheduled during the school term. Since the children were very little,  I have closed the studio doors during the summer months and taken off. After nine months of painting and producing for commissions and shows, I am ready to "hit the road" with the kids, my camera and a couple duffel bags. I know this time is limited with them - as soon enough they will have their own agendas in life. So I scoop them up for our summer months together and get re-inspired by my beloved East Coast landscape.
This painting I finished today reminds me that summer is just ...steps away.

Little things...

At the end of a painting, I enjoy working into it with my oil pastels. I have grown this collection of colours since I was very young...I have always loved working with them.
They are like butter in your hands and melt into the painting. They add depth, texture and movement to the piece for me. It's the little things in life that I find such joy in... They are also what I use to sign off the painting...the little phrases of emotion I feel before I actually sign my name in paint on the landscape.

Hope 34 X 36"

Sometimes I like to listen to music while I'm painting. Other times I love the silence around me.
I have been inspired by a song I heard at my son's school, called "Hope" by an artist called Shaggy. I can't stop replaying it.
There is something about this song and my mood, they just meshed so beautifully.
This painting came together from it all.
It will be called "Hope" in honor of just about - everything.
