Winter Thoughts...

One of my favorite sounds ever is the crunch of snow under ones winter boots...especially when there are no other sounds except for nature surrounding me on a winter morning.

Sense of Place 36 X 48"

I have been really delving into more into quiet places where I can rest my eyes and stay a while. Places where there is water, wind, grasses and sky...a sense of place.

Clouds...

I have various elements of nature that I love to paint where I can completely loose myself...whether it be the ocean, grasses, paths...and in this case, clouds. I love letting the paintbrush take over, guide me, through the darkness, light and overall feeling of the sky in that moment. Here is the beginning of a sky with an empty canvas underneath yet to be painted.

Frost.

Frost has such a beautiful way of resting lightly on the top of things...glistening in the light and so very delicate. The simplest breeze and slightest warmth can take it away.

Sunset Colour

I love driving over the Golden Gate Bridge back to Marin at sunset...there is just a certain time of day and sunset light that reverberates against the paint of the bridge and makes it glow in the most illuminating way...

"4 PM" 30 X 40"

I finished this piece late afternoon and a client poked their head into the studio saying..."Wow, that looks just like the Cape!"...how amusing, since I just rented a little cottage there this summer for a month on the water. I don't know the Cape well, just been out there a couple times visiting friends...so really looking forward to the inspiration.

Goodbye sweet Atlantic...until soon. Westward bound.
