Atlantic to Pacific...Back West.
After various very memorable and inspirational days on the Atlantic, I return home for the month to continue with some paintings in the studio for the summer galleries and my Fall exhibition. In 30 days, I pack up again to spend the summer back East with sketchbooks and watercolours...back to my sweet Atlantic.

Andreas Feininger photographer...Angel Wings.
A dear friend of mine emailed me this snapshot of the black and white photograph by Andreas Feininger from the Berkshire Museum of Art.
Little did she know I had just been introduced to them this weekend as Angels Wings. I love them.
Pholadidae, known as piddocks or angelwings, are a family of bivalve mollusc similar to a clam;
however, they are unique in that each side of their shells is divided
into 2 or 3 separate sections. Furthermore, one of the piddock's shells
has a set of ridges or "teeth", which they use to grind away at clay or
soft rock and create tubular burrows. The shape of these burrows is due
to the rotating motion of the piddock as it grinds the rock to make its
home. The piddock stays in the burrow it digs for the entirety of its
eight-year lifespan, with only its siphon exposed to take in water that it filters for food. When the piddock dies and leaves an empty tubular burrow, other marine life such as sea anemone, crabs and other molluscs may use the burrow.

Little Things...
Here's a slice of my desk...I'm a big fan of the little things that inspire. I bought the Ed Musante painted cigar box years ago from an exhibition in NY...There are always coloured pens and pencils all over my house, a big mussell shell filled with sand dollars I found on Stinson Beach a few months back, and Mary MacGill's beautifully designed business card for her incredible jewelery....the little things in life that make me happy.

Destination in Mind 40 X 30"
I am heading to the Atlantic Coastline for some springtime inspiration. I have rented a little saltbox for a few days and look very much forward to the time to photograph, sketch and use my watercolours...I was inspired by the thought of this Saltbox.

The Road Through (donated and sold at the BuildOn auction!)
A HUGE thank you to the wonderful family who bid on my painting at the BuildOn auction!
It was an honor to donate the piece to the BuildOn auction soon after my husband and son partipated in one of their treks to Nicaragua to build a school. It was definitely a life changing experience for the two of them.
Here is a video link covering some of some of the recent treks and experiences participants discuss including the recent Nicaragua trip! This is an organization I deeply believe in - for all that they do.
